A GORGEOUS PIECE OF AMERICAN ARTWORK.
This beautiful painting, entitled “On The Alert”, is a piece by renowned American artist Roland “Kickapoo” Logan (1908-2000). The image is oil on board, a colorful and detailed depiction of a young Native American man with a horse. Signed along the lower left.Born and raised in Kickapoo, Kansas, Roland "Kickapoo" Logan graduated from Leavenworth, Kansas Senior high in 1926. He played halfback on the football team at Kansas University in Lawrence, coached at the West Point Military Academy, and was a Commander in the U.S. Navy. He was also a member of the National Hall of Fame for athletic trainers. His art studios were located in Palm Springs, California where he lived and worked for many years. Logan won the Postato Prize awarded by the Salmagundi Club of New York City. He was also awarded the American Institute of Fine Arts Medal. - Scott Wilder
